235 Road Trail – Overgaard, Arizona

    By Hikerpro | May 5, 2009

Arizona tourism can include a wonderful hike in the White Mountains near Overgaard on 235 Road Trail. The trail is 4 miles long and runs through the beautiful forest area and wildlife reserve. The trail isn’t used very often so you will find a great place for some peace and solitude. The trail is a moderate difficulty trail so you will get a good workout but not wish you had passed on the opportunity.

Any time during the spring, summer or fall is a perfect time to take the hike. In the summer you will have a pretty good chance to see deer and elk and in the fall the colors of the trees turning their beautiful golden color in contrast to the tall pines of the area.

Camping is not allowed within 1/4 mile of Willow Lake. There are camping areas available in the area but be sure to check with the Ranger station in Overgaard before making plans to camp. The fire danger in the area is very high during the heat of summer and still a threat other times of the year so make sure you know the rules and follow them. Save the beautiful area for others to enjoy too.
