By Hikerpro | September 7, 2010
The role of Free soccer drills can be explained easily to the players. You don’t need to follow any rules. As a coach, you are free to experiment, innovate, and make your own drills and games.
It is also a good idea to keep your eyes and ears open to look for handy soccer exercises and alter them to suit your requirements. For creating an effective soccer training program, I have shared some of my ideas.
Your plan should be accommodating. It’s quite natural all your plans need not manifest as planned. It may rain, the kids may not turn up, or you may get sick. Make arrangement to cover all the possible obstructions.
It’s best to have multiple soccer practice games. If there is any delay in executing the plan you can go to the next item by deleting it. Just go with the flow and you will be able to make out what works best with the kids.
All the kids should warm up before any practice session. The kids should use the soccer ball apart from using regular soccer skills to warm up their body. You can make them rotate the ball using both the feet, kick the ball back and forth between the feet and so on.
There is plenty of free soccer drills which are fun yet can be used for warm up activity.
A soccer ball is made available to each of the soccer player. Now devise several individual activities that they can perform using the ball. The players should involve in activities such as shooting, dribbling and hitting the ball against the wall etc. The player’s movement should be free and the playing area shouldn’t have any lines or marks.
Upon completion of individual activities in soccer coaching the players should be involved in some group activities. There is a lot of fun in drills like passing and receiving the balls. Make the kids play soccer grouped into team without a goalkeeper. Let them hit the goals and do not set boundaries for this game.
Teach the players to first attack and then to defend. This style of coaching will enable the players to develop their own style.
It is mandatory the kids are grouped together as a team in group activities. Generally the kids will require some time to adjust to the concept of team play while shifting from individual to group activities. A coach plays a guiding role here.
Teach the players the importance of playing as group to win matches. The greatest gain is the players learn to play in a limited area without doing much with the ball and also to learn to work as a team.
This is the easiest way to conduct a soccer exercise. Just set yourself free and integrate different free soccer drills that you think will help the kids learn.
