Never Overlook The Value Of Vision Care

Will had always hoped to play his favorite sport in college. Ever since the start of Little League, he wished to play the position of catcher. It was by far his favorite position on the field and from the time he began playing, he worked hard to be good. His work paid off, as he was known throughout his high school division as an excellent defensive catcher. In fact, his coach claimed he had never seen better. The only thing which gave scouts and coaches pause, was his lack of offensive skills. Despite time dedicated to extra batting practice his skills were nowhere near what they needed to be. Will’s coaches tried all types of training aids they could think of to help improve his swing. He spent many afternoons hitting off a baseball pitching machine. This is often a valuable training tool as it can be set to a variety of locations and speeds. His coach even tried having him hit off the softball pitching machine with the hopes that he could master his timing with the aid of a bigger image as a target. He continually made minor changes to his swing with the hope that these adjustments would be what were needed to get him rolling offensively.
Kevin was having much difficulty in school. His fifth grade year had started off well enough but quickly he began to get behind academically. His parents were worried, as Kevin had never had much difficulty completing school work before. They knew that the middle school curriculum was more difficult than elementary and yet they felt their son was smarter than his test scores and performance indicated. They tried to help Kevin by hiring a tutor and by limiting his extra-curricular activities, yet neither seemed to help.
Duncan could not believe that he misjudged the distance of the bumper in front of him. He had been driving for nearly thirty years and had never so much as been involved in a minor incident. Over the course of the past year he had been at fault in three minor car accidents. He was not one to talk on his cell phone while driving, nor was he prone to being distracted by a loud radio. Duncan could not figure out he was having difficulty driving.
What these three have in common may just surprise you. While their ages differ and their circumstances differ, all three were tested and found to be suffering from the vision impairment, farsightedness. The vision impairment was the reason why it was affecting their ability to perform on the field, in the classroom and driving a vehicle. While they were still able to accomplish some of their tasks well, such as playing defense, highway driving, or reading textbooks at a desk, their vision was being compromised when it came to performing vision requirements of any distance. Judging the speed of a thrown object, estimating the space between bumpers, and taking notes off the white board while sitting in the back of a classroom, were all tasks which were unable to be effectively accomplished. The importance of regular vision testing cannot be overstated. Eyes experience stress and strain regularly and sometimes even young eyes are genetically prone to experience less than twenty-twenty eyesight. A trip to the eye doctor can be the difference between success and failure in a number of areas. Vision problems are most often easily treated and the results can be fantastic.
